This treatment is used to save a tooth when bacteria has entered the tooth (causing pain & discomfort). The way this happens is when a cavity (hole) appears in the tooth. You won’t always feel pain straight away and this is why it is important you attend your regular check ups as we can spot these problems before they progress into more serious dental complications.
When bacteria has entered the tooth you will start to notice more pain and discomfort because at the centre of the tooth is the nerve. In a bid to save the tooth a root canal treatment will clear the affected roots and bacteria out before plugging up the hole with a root filling.
